Falmouth University retains world-class position in the 2023 Rookies Rankings

Falmouth University’s Games Academy is a Rookies Certified School – a quality mark that identifies the schools that are best suited to prepare artists for a career in the creative industries. In the Rookies Rankings 2023, Falmouth has retained its position as one of the top ten creative schools in the UK, and top 50 in the world.  

The Games Academy, home to Falmouth University’s games and computing courses, offers expert tuition from industry-experienced lecturers and professional-standard facilities and equipment. Championing cross-discipline collaboration and creative thinking, Games Academy students harness the breadth of creative talent on our campuses – including artists, writers, composers, actors and business experts – to produce real games and digital products while they study. 

In the 2023 Top 50 Creative Schools rankings by the Rookies, Falmouth’s Games Academy retained its position as sixth in the UK and 39th in the world. These results are based on over 5,500 student participants, with 180 judges completing 58,000 project reviews. 

The Rookies says that the Top 50 Creative Schools list ‘showcases the most distinguished educational institutions that stand out as leaders in nurturing and shaping the next generation of artists, designers, animators, and creative professionals.’ 

Falmouth University’s dedication to providing exceptional education and fostering the growth of emerging talent was also recognised in further top tier rankings by The Rookies. These accolades include: 

• Number one in the UK and 13th in the world for Concept Art & Illustration 
• Number two in the UK and third in the world for Production Excellence – Mobile Games  
• Number three in the UK and eighth in the world for Production Excellence – Immersive Media 
• Number six in the UK and 27th in the world for Game Design & Development
