We offer facilities and equipment hire to support the work of businesses and practitioners.

Facilities and equipment hire is currently available from our Academy of Music & Theatre Arts (AMATA), The School of Television, the Institute of Photography and the Fashion & Textiles Institute. External Hire Terms and Conditions

AMATA houses a unique combination of 11 high-specification performance and rehearsal studios, 12 practice rooms, a recording studio complex with both analogue and digital facilities, seminar spaces, a cafe/bar and an extensive foyer space for exhibitions and displays. These are primarily artistic performance spaces, but are equally adaptable for commercial use as novel conference and event spaces, available for hire outside our teaching and producing schedule. The facilities also include sophisticated lighting and sound infrastructure, four rooms with variable raked seating options and 700m2 of fully sprung dance floors.

We are pleased to be able to offer our photography studios and equipment for hire on a commercial basis. With 8 studios, darkrooms, digital suites, and a professional print facility as well as cameras, lighting and accessories from the world’s top brands, we can meet the needs of the most demanding professional whilst still catering for the advanced amateur.

The PhotoLab at Falmouth University is a professional photo finishing facility that has been serving both students and local professionals for the past fifteen years. Our services are available to the wider public with a particular emphasis on professional photographers, alumni and keen amateurs. Of course, we welcome casual users too.

The Fashion & Textiles Institute at Falmouth University has a wealth of technical facilities and knowledgeable staff, centred around its key courses, Fashion Design, Fashion Marketing, Fashion Photography, Textile Design and Costume Design for Film & Television. By leveraging our resources and facilities, we can create personalised education courses tailored to suit the requirements of business and groups within Cornwall and beyond.

The Wardrobe Store

The Fashion & Textiles Institute’s Wardrobe Store is a costume house for student and professional film and television production. It stocks a wide range of men’s and women’s contemporary, everyday clothing, as well as sportswear, workwear, service uniforms, period, historical and national dress.  

Accessing the Wardrobe Store 

To request wardrobe assistance, please email details of your project including script outline, characters requiring costume, shooting times and locations and your contact details to WardrobeStore@falmouth.ac.uk

Costume donations 

We are limited in our capacity to accept donations, and can not accept theatre costume at this time. However, we would welcome screen quality vintage, period, historic and national dress and accessories.

Textiles & Dress Collection

The Textiles & Dress Collection is a reference collection of thousands of items of textiles, dress and associated materials that spans the last 200 years, that can be consulted for the purposes of private study and scholarly research. The collection is made up of women’s, men’s and children’s wear and accessories, fashion and interiors fabrics and textile artefacts. We also have a large collection of publications such as commercial dress patterns, knitting and crochet patterns, dressmaking and craft magazines.   

A large proportion of the collection can be searched online. Some sections of the catalogue are not currently available online, but we may still be able to help you if you get in touch.

Donations 

We are still building the collection and are actively looking for contributions, including everyday wear. Nothing is too ‘ordinary’ to be overlooked. If you have any items that you think might be of interest to us, please contact us by emailing textilesanddresscollection@falmouth.ac.uk.
