What happens on Graduation Day?
A guide to your graduation ceremony
There’s a lot involved in making your graduation day one to remember. Here’s what you need to know to make sure you’re in the right place at the right time.
Remind yourself of the ceremony dates and times here.
Important - download the Ceremony Passport app for your graduation!
The Ceremony Passport app offers seamless access to your tickets, gown hire and photography, as well as useful checklists for on the day. Ensure you download the app ahead of your graduation day, and have your QR codes at the ready.
Search for ‘Ede & Ravenscroft Ceremony Passport’ wherever you get your apps – available for both Apple and Android devices.
You should arrive a minimum of two hours before your ceremony start time, so you have enough time to sign-in, collect your robes and, most importantly, relax before the big moment!
Directions:
Graduation takes place on Penryn Campus. If arriving by car, please enter through the main entrance on Treliever Road, where you will then be directed to park.
Car parking:
There are over 2,000 car parking spaces on Penryn Campus. Parking will be free for the duration of Graduation.
Chauffeured golf buggies are also available throughout campus for those that have accessibility needs. Additionally, please Email graduation@falmouth.ac.uk if you or your guests require an accessible parking space permit.
Registration:
Once you have parked, you will need to sign in at the Registration Desk in the Exchange Courtyard. You will need to bring your student ID or another form of suitable photo ID.
You will not receive physical tickets beforehand. Instead, you will receive physical tickets when you register.
Robing:
Robing - where you collect and dress in your formal Graduation robes - is in the Exchange Courtyard, adjacent to the Registration Desk.
Please note that you must wear the correct graduation attire to attend your graduation ceremony. Traditional or cultural wear is welcomed underneath your robes.
Pre-ceremony Reception:
This will take place in the Exchange Courtyard Marquee. Once you have registered and collected your robes, you and your guests can enjoy drinks and entertainment while you wait for doors to the Ceremony Hall to open.
Doors:
Doors to the Ceremony Hall open one hour before your ceremony start time, and close 15 minutes before the ceremony starts.
Please make sure you and your guests arrive promptly at the Ceremony Hall (Sports Centre), as anyone arriving late will not be allowed to enter. Leave all your belongings with your guests, including bags and mobile phones. Please note there will be bag searches upon entry to the ceremony. Please familiarise yourself with our list of prohibited items.
During the Ceremony:
Each ceremony will last approximately 60 minutes. During the ceremony, you'll be called to move towards the stage by an usher.
When your name is called, you'll make your way across the stage, be handed your commemorative chocolate coin by our Chancellor Dawn French, and then proceed to leave the stage before returning to your seat.
Make sure you cheer and celebrate when your friends and course mates cross the stage!
Guests are allowed to take photographs during the ceremony, though we ask them to please be mindful of other guests. Your moment on the stage will also be recorded and available to download after Graduation (see below for further details).
Live Streaming:
Guests without tickets to the Ceremony Hall are still welcome on campus and can make use of the live streaming venue on campus to watch your ceremony from there. A member of staff will be able to direct you on the day.
The ceremony will also be livestreamed to the Falmouth University YouTube channel.
Post-Ceremony Reception:
Straight after the Ceremony, you and your course mates will be taken as a group for the department photograph outside Tremough House. Meanwhile, guests will be escorted to the Italian Gardens to begin the reception, where there will be food and drink available.
Photography:
Formal portrait photography is in the Fashion & Textiles Institute, opposite the robing area.
There is the opportunity to buy photographs of your onstage moment and the department group photograph. To avoid long queues, we advise you to have your portrait photographs taken after your ceremony.
