Covid-19 update - 2 November 2020: blended learning continues
Since the government announcement on Saturday 31 October regarding further restrictions to help stop the spread of Covid-19, we have been working through the implications for universities.
Our students' current academic experience will not be affected by these restrictions. Unlike during the lockdown in the spring, universities will remain open. This means that students will still be able to access facilities and learning support on-campus, as well as receiving teaching via the Learning Space and on Teams.
The Government recognises the value of face-to-face teaching and is therefore satisfied that universities can continue to deliver a blended model.
We have made our spaces Covid-secure and are confident that we can continue to provide students with hands-on activity and collaborative working that is beneficial to their learning experience, while also protecting the health and wellbeing of our campus community.
Students should therefore continue to engage with their course as it is timetabled. Our libraries will remain open and our support services are here for students as they have been throughout this term.
This blended approach gives students the opportunity to meet with fellow students and staff as part of their in-person learning, and to continue to develop their skills and experience with access to all our on-campus resources. This will be beneficial to students' academic development, health and wellbeing, and enrich their overall experience.
The Government has been clear that students must not leave their current accommodation and move back to their permanent home while these restrictions are in place. This is a public health measure to ensure that the virus is not transmitted into new communities. We are asking students to please heed this guidance and protect the health of others.
If students need help or support, they should get in touch with the Compass helpdesk. The team is available on studentservices@fxplus.ac.uk or 01326 370460, between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.
If you have general questions or concerns about Covid-19, you can contact the Coronavirus Enquiry Line via email - coronavirus@fxplus.ac.uk, or on the phone - 01326 370 402. The line is currently open between 9am and 5pm on weekdays.
As we have seen throughout the pandemic, this is a dynamic situation and is therefore subject to change. We will keep students and staff up to date via email and on this website.
