Emergency Support
If you or our someone you know is experiencing a medical or mental health emergency, harassment or sexual misconduct, it's important to know where you can find support. Find all the information you need, below.
Life-threatening emergencies
Call 999 immediately or go to your nearest hospital.

What to do in an emergency
If you have a physical injury or are experiencing severe symptoms (eg. pain, vomiting, bleeding) call NHS 111.
If it is an immediate emergency and you require the police, ambulance or fire services call 999.

Cornwall 24/7 Mental Health Line
If you are worried about your own or someone else’s mental health, you can call the local NHS helpline for free, any time of day or night. You will be connected to an NHS mental health professional who will listen to you and determine how best to help.
Suicidal thoughts & self-harm
If you are having suicidal thoughts and intend to act on them imminently, you should call 999 and ask for an ambulance.
In cases of overdose and serious injury through self-harm you must seek immediate medical help by calling 999, even if you, or the person you are with, do not/does not feel unwell. The effects of an overdose can be delayed by hours (even days) and can be fatal.
When to call 999
If you are having suicidal thoughts and feel you cannot keep yourself safe or intend to act on your thoughts imminently – call 999 and ask for an ambulance.

If you’re in immediate danger or seriously injured, call 999.
If an incident has just happened, try to find somewhere you feel safe. If you’re at the University, you can:
- Call Safety & Support 24/7 on 01326 253503 or go to your nearest University building and ask someone to phone Safety & Support for you
- Use the SafeZone app for assistance on campus or report an incident. The app will connect you directly to someone who will provide the assistance you need
