Support for Home Educated Students

We understand that education doesn’t look the same for everyone.
In fact, some of our most talented, curious and creative students have taken unconventional routes to get here: and we celebrate that.
The term ‘home educated’ can relate to anyone whose learning has taken place outside mainstream education; for example, online schooling, home education or flexi-schooling.
Your application
Future students from non-standard educational backgrounds can apply for our undergraduate on-campus and full-time undergraduate online degrees via UCAS.
UCAS is the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service and is a UK-based organisation that manages the application process for UK universities, including Falmouth.
However, we recognise that you may be concerned about how non-traditional qualifications or learning paths will be viewed.
Here at Falmouth, we understand that not all educational journeys follow the same route, and that life experience, independent study and practical skills are just as valuable as formal qualifications.
How to apply with non-standard qualifications
At Falmouth, we look at the potential of a future student; their passion, their enthusiasm and their prior achievements. This can be through traditional or non-traditional qualifications, and that’s where our Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) process comes in.
This process gives you an opportunity to apply for a place with us if you don't have standard qualifications like A Levels, you can still apply and have your individual experiences, learning and achievements considered fairly, on your own merit.
Dedicated advisor support
You can apply for our full-time on campus and online undergraduate degrees via UCAS. However, if the structure of UCAS isn’t the best fit for you or you’d like additional support, you can apply directly with us and be supported every step of the way by a dedicated applicant services advisor.
If you apply for an online degree, you'll be supported by a dedicated course advisor who will offer personal statement and portfolio advice and guidance on how to use your unique experiences throughout the application process.
Enhanced applicant support programme
Our Outreach team supports students from backgrounds that are statistically less likely to attend university and helps applicants from these backgrounds access undergraduate study at Falmouth. We work hard to remove the barriers that home-educated applicants may face by offering support packages based on your needs.
Support can include things like: personal statement advice, mock interviews, portfolio feedback, interview adjustments and bursaries to travel to campus or your interview.
You can access this kind of support by visiting the Enhanced Applicant Support page or by contacting us, on outreach@falmouth.ac.uk.
