A degree in Design, Architecture or Interiors offers a range of creative and technical career paths that centre on finding innovative solutions for experiences, spaces and products.
Career options
Graduates can work in architectural practice or interior design studios, creating buildings, landscapes and environments across residential, commercial, retail, hospitality and cultural settings. Some graduates move into related fields such as exhibition and experiential design, set and production design for film and theatre, furniture and product design, lighting design, or heritage and conservation.

Knowledge and skills
A Design, Architecture or Interiors degree gives you the space to experiment with a range of materials and tools.
You’ll work with contemporary tech and digital design tools whether you’re laying out pages, laser cutting, 3D printing and scanning, CNC milling or visualising interiors with VR.
You’ll find all you need to bring your practical projects to life, including outdoor construction areas, technician-supported workshops for making in metals, plaster, new sustainable materials and wood and a full range of facilities for craft skills such as screen printing, printmaking and bookbinding.
Transferable skills
As well as these specialist skills, students develop a range of transferable skills that are desirable to many employers. These include:
- Visual, verbal and written communication skills, including presentation and pitching
- Leadership skills through project management and collaborative outputs
- A strong work ethic and tenacity to move projects forward
- Innovative solutions to problem solving and a willingness to take creative risks
- Interpersonal skills through critiques, peer reviews and group tutorials
- Entrepreneurial skills in marketing your work and building professional networks
- IT skills in software such as Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop, InDesign
Career support
Studying a Design, Architecture or Interiors degree opens the door to a wide range of career-focused opportunities. You’ll work on live industry briefs and take part in portfolio reviews, studio visits and optional in-person events, giving you direct insight into professional practice and helping you build meaningful relationships with leading industry figures.
You’ll also have opportunities to go to major international events such as Dutch Design Week. Throughout your studies, you’ll collaborate with industry professionals, laying strong foundations for your future career. Students have previously worked with global agencies including Sky Creative, Ogilvy London and McCann Central, and have showcased their work at industry awards such as D&AD New Blood in London and the South West Design + Digital Student Awards in Bristol.
When you study at Falmouth, you also have access to our dedicated Employability Service. We offer weekly career workshops and events, support with practice interviews and advice on writing your CV or even going freelance.
