We know it’s not easy to ask for help, but when you do feel like you need a helping hand our multidisciplinary Student Support team offers a range of options that can be tailored to your needs.
Often, self-help, peer support, drop-in groups and workshops can be enough to equip you to manage your wellbeing or mental health difficulties. However, if this is not the case for you, we can also offer expert consultation, advice and guidance regarding your specific situation and difficulties. This may be in collaboration with other student support teams, or external services such as your GP, the NHS or specialist services.
If you would prefer not to talk to one of the Student Support team, there are a range of self-help options and workshops available that can be useful in understanding common concerns and what you can do about them. Further information can be found in our wellbeing self-help area.
Is wellbeing support right for me?
We would advise getting in touch with us to discuss support if:
- You have a mental health difficulty that has lasted for a year or is likely to last for a year (e.g. anxiety disorders such as panic, social anxiety and obsessive compulsaive disorder; eating difficulties; depression; bipolar disorder; personality disorders; psychoses).
- You have a mental health difficulty and are taking prescribed medication.
You're experiencing difficulties with your psychological or emotional wellbeing which is impacting your ability to study and cope at university.
How do I get in touch with the wellbeing student support service?
You'll need to complete a secure, confidential form to allow us to assess your needs.
- Go to Compass Online
- Use your Falmouth University username and password to login to the Compass Online portal.
- Select ‘Log New Enquiries’ under the Enquiries section of the menu on the left of the screen.
- Select ‘Wellbeing Appointment Form’ from the category menu (you can use the filter to narrow your search).
- Complete the form with as much detail as possible and click send.
The more information you provide, the better we can identify the most appropriate support. Once you have submitted this, a member of our team will be in touch within three* working days to discuss options for your support, based on your current concerns.
You can start with a friendly phone conversation and go from there. This is an opportunity to speak with a trained professional who can assist with any further information, or support options tailored to what you may need. At times this may be in collaboration with your doctor, or specialist services.
