When I was deciding which university to go to, I knew I wanted more than just classes and lectures. I wanted to dive into all the cool stuff outside of studying too! Falmouth University had everything I was looking for.

They've got over 150 clubs and societies you can join! Whether you're into sports like pole dancing, sea swimming, surfing, or football, or if you're more into things like exploring your religion or specific courses, there's something for everyone.

I became a member of the Women In Business society. We meet up for coffee regularly to chat about what's happening in our industries and how our courses are going. Plus, we get to listen to guest speakers, who share their wisdom and experience with us. It's been really helpful for making connections and learning insider tips from pros in the field.

Joining clubs and societies isn't just about having fun (although that's a big part of it!). It's also a fantastic way to meet new people who share your interests, step out of your comfort zone and pick up some new skills along the way. And here's a little secret – it can boost your CV too! Who knew that having a blast and being social could actually benefit your career?

Becoming a member usually involves a small fee, but the perks are totally worth it. Depending on the society, your membership might give you free or discounted access to their events. So, not only are you getting to do cool stuff, but you're also saving some cash in the process. It's a win-win, especially for a student!

Another great way to take a breather from your studies is to explore the local area. In Falmouth, we're spoiled for choice with stunning beaches – you can count at least three all within walking distance! And, if you're up for a little adventure, the local train or bus takes you to beautiful places like St. Ives.

But even if you're sticking closer to home, there's no shortage of things to do in Falmouth Town. Whether you're in the mood for trying out cafes (Palacio Lounge is a student go-to!) to get on with your work or catch up with friends, you're in for a treat.

Falmouth may be known for its laid-back vibe during the day, but come 9pm, the town is buzzing. Whether you're up for hitting the bars and clubs for a night of dancing or prefer a chill pint to unwind (like me!), there's something for everyone. Wednesday nights are especially exciting because they're student nights! Many pubs, clubs and cocktail bars offer deals on drinks, making it the perfect excuse to have a bit of fun without breaking the bank. Falmouth is also a super safe place, so you can enjoy your night out worry-free. If you're staying on the Penryn Campus in university accommodation, the Stannary Bar is always a good night out. They have lots of events throughout the year.

Overall, Falmouth is brimming with activities, hidden gems to discover and chances to take a breather from your studies. Whether you're craving adventure, relaxation, or a change of scenery to tackle your assignments, this seaside town has got you covered. I can honestly say I made the right choice coming to Falmouth University, it offers a great balance between studying and socialising.
