The Combined Universities of Cornwall (CUC) partner institutions are delivering 40 collaborative PhD studentships in the period between January 2011 and March 2015. Falmouth is in receipt of ESF funding amounting to £1.1 million to deliver ten PhD studentships as well as 100 postgraduate taught Masters. These projects aim to develop high level research skills within the partnership, whilst also meeting the needs of business partners in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, helping to grow key sectors in the Cornish economy.
Each studentship constitutes collaboration between two CUC partner institutions and an organisation based in Cornwall. Where a suitable academic collaboration partner could not be identified from within the partnership, a higher education partner from outside of CUC was sought.
These studentships build on the 36 PhD projects supported during Phase I of the CUC research programme, also funded by ESF Convergence of which Falmouth University has delivered 12 PhD starts and 264 postgraduate taught Masters through ESF funding amounting to £1.94 million.
