Applying to Falmouth University is simple. We've outlined each step of the process here so you know what to expect and when.

Are you an international student? Check our your application journey on our international apply page.

Your university application journey

Apply through UCAS

Wherever you are in the world, whether you are in further education, planning on transferring from another institution or not currently studying, you can apply to university through UCAS. If you're unable to use UCAS, just get in touch. We're here to help.

When applying through UCAS you'll need to reference the UCAS code for your course, which can be found on your course page, as well as the Falmouth University UCAS code: F33.

International applications

To apply as an international student you can apply via UCAS, through an agent in your country or directly to the University. Find out more on our international applications page

Mature students

Mature students also apply for our undergraduate degrees via UCAS. If you have the relevant academic requirements you can use those to apply, but if you don't, you can use APL (Accreditation of Prior Learning)

US embargo and studying online at Falmouth

Falmouth University will adhere to the UK sanctions regime as published by the UK Government, and due to its contracts with international partners based in the US, it will comply with the US Sanctions regime as necessary. This may impact your ability to study Online with the University if you are domiciled in a country affected by US embargo.

University application advice

For information about how to write a UCAS personal statement, head to our personal statement guide

We're also hosting a range of online events to help you with your application. Keep an eye on our upcoming events to get expert advice.

Additional needs

If you have any additional needs, disabilities or are a carer, let us know about it on your UCAS form. This will help us to take your circumstances into consideration and give you any additional support you might need.

Once you've submitted your undergraduate application, you'll get an email to confirm that we've received it. This should arrive within two working days, so keep an eye on your inbox.

The Applicant Portal

We'll email you with instructions and a login for the Applicant Portal, where you'll see what else you need to do. You can upload documents like ID and proof of residency to the Applicant Portal as well as manage your interview.

You’ll be able to message us through the Applicant Portal if you have any questions about your application or the process.

 Visit Applicant Portal

Please note: Bookings for new interviews are now closed, but you can still apply to study with us. Applicants for September 2026 will be asked to provide a statement, portfolio or performance, rather than have an interview. Find out more about how this affects you and your application

At Falmouth, we want to get to know you - your ideas, your passions and ambitions for the future. That’s why, for most of our courses, you’ll be invited to an interview or audition.

An interview at Falmouth is your chance to connect with our academic team, talk about your work and get supportive, encouraging feedback. It’s also a great way for you to get to know Falmouth better and find out if it's the best fit for you.

What to expect:

  • A friendly 20-30 minute conversation with one of our academic team
  • The chance to share your portfolio, audition piece or creative work-in-progress
  • Space to discuss your interests, ideas and ambitions

On-campus undergraduate degrees

To see whether your course requires an interview, please visit the interview information page. If your course is listed, it requires an interview; if not, there’s no interview required.

When you apply for an on-campus degree with an interview or audition, you’ll be asked to choose how you’d like to have your interview via the Applicant Portal. You can choose an in-person interview on our Cornwall campuses or at a regional interview near London, or online if you’re applying from outside the UK, or cannot attend an interview in person.

If you’re based in the UK, we encourage you to come to campus, if possible, as it’s the best way to experience Falmouth for yourself.

Online undergraduate degrees

For online courses, interviews are offered from 29 October 2025 until 24 June 2026. To check whether your online undergraduate degree requires an interview, visit our online degrees interview information page. If your course is listed, it requires an interview; if not, there’s no interview required.

If your chosen degree does require an interview or audition, you’ll receive an invitation through the Applicant Portal to book a time. All interviews are held online via Microsoft Teams

Important: We cannot progress your application until you’ve selected your interview type.

Please note: Bookings for new interviews are now closed, but you can still apply to study with us. Applicants for September 2026 will be asked to provide a statement, portfolio or performance, rather than have an interview. Find out more about how this affects you and your application

We know that talent and potential don’t always show up on paper, or academic grades. That's why we require an interview or audition for the majority of our courses. These conversations help us see the full picture of your passion, curiosity and ambition as a future student.

To see whether your course requires an interview, please visit the relevant interview information page depending on whether you’re applying for an on-campus undergraduate degree or online undergraduate degree.

Audition

If you're applying for an audition-based course, such as a performance or music subject, you'll be asked to prepare an audition for your interview. Everything you need to do can be found on our Preparing for your interview page.

You'll need to record your audition or music and upload a link via the Applicant Portal in order to secure your interview date. You may be asked to do your audition at your interview as well, so come prepared.

Portfolio

If you are applying for a portfolio-based course, you'll need to bring your portfolio with you to your interview if you choose an in-person interview. Take a look at our Portfolio advice page for tips on what to include in your portfolio.

If you select an online interview, you’ll need to upload a link of your digital portfolio to the Applicant Portal in order to secure your interview date.

If you don't have a completed portfolio from this year, don't worry. You can use one of our Falmouth Creative Projects to help you develop a portfolio.

Enjoy preparing for your university interview

We understand that it can be daunting preparing for a university interview. We want to encourage you to see your interview as an opportunity to show us what you're passionate about and what you'll bring to our creative community.

We're always here to help, so if you have any questions you can use the contact details at the bottom of this page and we can support your application journey.

We try to make a decision within five working days of your interview. However, we want everyone to have a fair chance, so popular courses can take longer.

University offer types

There are two types of offer you could receive:

Conditional offer: You'll need to fulfil some conditions before starting your studies, like getting certain grades and meeting our English language requirements.

Unconditional offer: You don't have any conditions to fulfil prior to starting the course, you have secured a place. We'll get in touch with you about next steps.

If you are an International Student you will also need to pay an acceptance fee, we'll give you all the details for this in the Applicant Portal.

If you applied via UCAS, log in to UCAS to accept your university offer. If you applied directly with us, you can accept your offer through the Applicant Portal.

We'll save your place as soon as you accept a conditional or unconditional offer, and we'll let you know if we need any more information.

If you're wondering how your application's coming along, or you're worried that you won't meet your conditions, you can get in touch with us through the Applicant Portal for support and advice.
