Lecturer Game Art

I have been working in the Games Industry since 1992.  I have worked on a variety of game platforms and game genres in that time.  I began my career working at Rare in Twycross Warwickshire working to develop games for Nintendo.  My first game that I worked on was “Donkey Kong Country”, a platform game published on the ‘SNES’ (Super Nintendo Entertainment System).  Later on I was very fortunate to be a member of the team to have worked on “Goldeneye”, a FPS (First Person Shooter) on the N64 console.  In developing my career further I went on to work with Core Design Limited in Derby, working on titles on “Fighting Force 2”, for the PS (Play-Station).  Finally, working on “Tomb Raider – Angel of Darkness”, on the Play-Station 2 and PC.  My international experience includes nearly 2 years working in Halifax, Nova Scotia Canada.  Developing games titles like “FIFA-12”, for EA (Electronic Arts) on the Nintendo Wii.  I also helped develop a Microsoft Xbox 360 Kinect title called “NBA Baller Beats”, for Majesco.  I have also worked on portable platforms from the DS and DSi.  I followed my further education experience from College Diploma to MA/Pgd from Bournemouth University (NCCA).  Up to my teaching experience I was working as a Contract FX Artist for Ubisoft Reflection working on “Driver - San Francisco” for the Play Station 3 and Xbox.

My teaching career began in 2006 to 2008 working as a fractional Lecturer on the BA(Hons) in Game Design at Hull School of Art and Design. My full-time teaching began in 2013, as a Games Lecturer at Doncaster College.  This progressed to Programme Lead at Doncaster University Centre for the BTEC HNC/HND in Games Development.  I also successfully developed the BA (Hons) Games Design and Animation and validated by Hull University.  I started working at Falmouth University at the Games Academy as a Game Art Lecture in November 2019.
