Since completing his BA(Hons) Post Production & Visual Effects course at Falmouth, Winston Tjia has been working on the post-production team at Beagle Media, assisting with technical support and video editing for the local Nations & Regions TV production company.
As part of his role, Winston has recently been supporting the filming of projects in over 50 locations across 16 countries, creating eventful campaigns with a focus on strong storytelling. Two of the campaigns have gone on to win at the MarCom Awards 2025.
Outside of his work at Beagle Media, Winston has been involved in a variety of short films currently on the festival circuit, assisting with sound recording, colour grading, VFX, editing and more. He has also created a podcast sharing different the creative inspiration of different artists, with season two featuring staff members from Falmouth’s School of Film & Television. Alongside this, Winston has assisted Screen Cornwall at the British Film Institute Academy and taught a masterclass for the National Saturday Club.
Now, Winston’s talent in the business community has been recognised, with Cornwall Chamber of Commerce recognising the post-production alumnus as one of Cornwall’s 30 under 30. “I’m still at a loss of words and can’t believe this happened,” Winston reflected. “I think with everything I do with work I think about it as more than just a career, but as a path I choose for myself. It’s about the people I work with, helping make dreams come to life and bringing out the best from everyone.
“I’m happy and very honoured to be awarded as one of Cornwall’s 30 under 30 by Cornwall Chamber of Commerce, celebrating the Duchy’s brightest young business talent. Seeing some of my heroes from when I first moved here up on stage, and sharing the same recognition as them, was not something I had on my bucket list. A small part of me thinks that dreams are still coming true, or I really am living the dream!”
Reflecting on how his time at Falmouth has helped to support him in his career, Winston added: “Falmouth University gave me a launchpad to help me be who I am today, and everything I’ve been doing since my time at university is from the connections I made and people I met at Falmouth. As my network grows, and I meet more people around the Southwest, it’s always nice to bump into other alumni from Falmouth as we share similar memories during our time as students.”
