Future Creatives Collective and Creative Competition return for 2027
08 September 2026
Falmouth University has launched its 2027 Future Creatives Collective and Creative Competition, bringing together two opportunities for young creatives to explore their creativity, develop their skills and showcase their work.
Following a successful first year, the two initiatives return with a more closely connected journey for young people interested in creative subjects and considering their next steps.
The Future Creatives Collective is a free, three-day online programme taking place during February half term for students aged 16 and over who are interested in exploring creative study at university. Through practical workshops, creative challenges and sessions led by lecturers from Falmouth’s Integrated Foundation Year, participants can experience what it’s like to study at a specialist creative university, while developing their creative practice, exploring new ideas and gaining advice on portfolios and applying to university. They can also develop a potential entry for the Creative Competition.
The Creative Competition gives young people the chance to turn their creativity into an original piece of work, share it with a wider audience and be in with a chance of winning some fantastic prizes. This year’s theme, ‘Our Weird and Wonderful World’, invites entrants to celebrate the unusual, unexpected and extraordinary things that make their world unique. From painting, illustration and textiles to photography, animation, film and digital artwork, entrants can respond to the theme in whatever creative medium suits their ideas.
The competition is open to young people across a range of age groups, with category winners able to win up to £250 worth of creative materials or equipment. Winning work will be exhibited at Falmouth University, while all entries will be showcased in an online exhibition.
“It really does change people’s perspectives on university and opens their eyes to the possibilities that await them. Everyone was really passionate and skilled.” - Future Creatives Collective participant, 2026
For UK students aged 16 and over, completing the Future Creatives Collective and submitting an eligible piece of work to the Creative Competition also opens up progression opportunities at Falmouth. Students can receive a guaranteed conditional offer* for Falmouth University’s Integrated Foundation Year, or, if applying for an eligible BA course with an Integrated Foundation Year pathway, have their application fast-tracked directly to academic review without an interview.
Together, the two opportunities give young creatives the chance to explore their creativity, develop their skills and produce work they can be proud of, while taking a supported step towards studying at university.
Whether they’re already thinking about a future in the creative industries or simply want the opportunity to try something new, the Future Creatives Collective and Creative Competition offer young people a chance to explore, create and share their work – and discover where their creativity could take them.
The Future Creatives Collective takes place online from 15-17 February 2027, with the Creative Competition closing at 5pm on 31 March 2027.
*Subject to meeting the published entry requirements and UCAS tariff points.
