Falmouth University’s Creative Competition 2027

Theme: Our Weird and Wonderful World

From the everything to the anything that makes your reality happen, share your vision, inspiration and your unique communities, and join us in celebrating all from the obscure to the marvellous around you. You could win up to £250 worth of creative materials!

How to enter

Create an original piece based on this year’s theme using any materials or media you choose including, but not limited to pastels, colouring pencils, oil paint, textiles, watercolour paint, chalk, pen and ink, ceramics, textiles, photography, animation, video (no more than three minutes in length), Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Procreate and more.  

Who can enter  

  • Years 9-10 (UK schools only)
  • UK Age 16+
  • International Age 16+

You don’t need a finished entry to register. Sign up now so we can tell you how and when to submit your entry.

  • Students from Years 9 and 10 must be registered as a group by their school
  • Schools register students using the registration form (students don’t do this part).  
  • Submit entries by post (size limits apply – see how to enter or email (PDF, PNG, JPEG @ 300 dpi).  
  • Deadline for entries 31 March 2027, 5pm (UK time)  
  • Request artwork returns by 31 July 2027, after that, we can’t promise we’ll keep it!  
  • Register using the individual registration form any time before you send us your entry.
  • Submit entries by post (size limits apply – see how to enter or email (PDF, PNG, JPEG @ 300 dpi).  
  • Deadline for entries 31 March 2027, 5pm (UK time)

Want to boost your entry and get guaranteed uni progression?


Are you a UK student aged 16+? Join the Future Creatives Collective – a free, three-day online programme from 15-17 February 2027. You’ll get support from Falmouth students, creative skill-building workshops, and expert guidance to help you craft your competition entry.

Complete the Collective programme and submit your piece to the competition to qualify for:

  • A guaranteed conditional offer for Falmouth’s Integrated Foundation Year, or
  • A fast-track portfolio review when you apply to one of our BA undergraduate courses

How to Submit Your Entry

Physical entries (UK only)

Physical entries must not exceed Royal Mail Medium Parcel size (61 cm × 46 cm × 46 cm, max 20 kg). 

Digital entries (UK and International) 

Email your entry to creativecompetition@falmouth.ac.uk 

Subject Line: Weird and Wonderful World / Your Name / Your School 

For all entries include your: 

  • Full name 

  • Date of birth 

  • School or College name 

  • Year group 

  • Display instructions (if needed) 

If you’re emailing us, put all that information in your email. 

If posting, attach a secure label to the back or underside of your work (not on the front).  

Prizes

Each category will have:  

  • One winner: £250 of art materials or equipment in your chosen discipline
  • Two runners-up: £100 of Falmouth art supplies
  • Highly commended: Falmouth goody bag worth £25

Schools registered with our Outreach Programme will also receive £250 in art resources if their student wins.  

Winners will be notified by email no later than 26 April 2027.

If you haven’t heard from us by this date, please assume you have been unsuccessful on this occasion.  

Exhibitions 

Winning entries will be showcased at Falmouth University’s Graduate Showcase and Community Day in May, followed by an exhibition of all entries later in the year.  

All entries will also be displayed in an online exhibition.  

Rules

  • One entry per person  
  • Your work must be 100% original - no AI-generated art, no copying from your mates.  
  • Year 9 & 10 entrants must be enrolled in a registered school  - teachers - register your school here
  • 16+ entrants must complete the registration form before you send us your entry.  
  • Stick to formats, deadlines, and all instructions.  
  • Judges’ decisions are final.  
  • Prizes must be claimed by 31 July 2027
