Dreaming & Doing | Creative Competition 2026 | FAQs
Q: Is there a limit on how many works I can submit?
A: Each participant can submit one artwork only. Entrants with more than one artwork will be subject to judges’ discretion as to the artwork judged.
Q: Will I get my artwork back after the competition?
A: If you have submitted a physical piece and you would like it back following the competition, you must email creativecompetition@falmouth.ac.uk to arrange for collection by no later than 31st July 2026, after which date all works will be disposed of. All costs will be covered by the participant, rather than the University e.g. cost of packaging and postage.
Q: When will I know if my artwork won a prize?
A: We will email you by 18th May 2026 if you have been successful. If you haven’t heard from us by this date, please assume you have been unsuccessful on this occasion.
Q: Are there any size limits for 3D artwork?
A: Please keep your entry to a maximum size of a Royal Mail Medium Parcel (61cm x 46cm x 46cm, max. 20kg) and ensure it is posted to us safely, as we cannot take any responsibility for any costs or damages incurred during transit.
Q: Are there any size limits for digital artwork?
A: Please ensure you submit high quality photos or images with a resolution of 300DPI/PPI.
Q: What information do I need to include when I send in my artwork?
A: Firstly, you must complete the <Entry Form>. Please double check all the information is correct so we can match your form with your artwork. And you must label your work correctly and include:
- Your full name
- Your date of birth
- The name of your school/college
- Your school/college year
If you are posting your entry, please make sure this information is clear to see (e.g. on a label attached securely to your artwork, rather than on a piece of paper which can get lost/separated from your artwork).
If you are emailing your entry, please make sure this information is included in the main body of your email.
Q: Can I create an artwork with a friend?
A: Artwork can be submitted as part of a collaboration, however the prize amount will be shared amongst all contributors.
Q: Will my work be exhibited even if I don’t win a prize?
A: We will hold two exhibitions – one winners’ exhibition as part of our Community Day and Graduate Showcase, followed by an exhibition of all work at a later date. All work will be available on our online exhibition.
Q: Who will be judging the artwork?
A: The judging panel is made up of Falmouth University staff and student ambassadors.
Q: When is the submission deadline?
A: You must submit your artwork by no later than 31st March 2026 5pm UK time. Entries received after this date will not be accepted (unless you have emailed us before the deadline and have been granted extenuating circumstances).
Q: I want to enter the competition, but I’m not in the school/college years mentioned. Can I still enter?
A: At this time, the competition is currently only open to students in UK state schools and academies that are registered for the competition in years 9 and 10, and individual entries from UK students aged 16+ and students in international schools (UK and overseas) aged 16+. Students that do not fall under these categories are unable to enter.
Q: What is the first-place prize?
A: Participants that come first-place in any of the three categories will win £250 of art prizes of their choosing. Therefore, participants can choose the item/items that total no more than £250 in value that are linked to their chosen/preferred art medium. For example, this may include items such as a camera/photography equipment, a sewing machine, art supplies, design software, a ticket to an arts event such as a theatre production/West End show, an arts subscription etc.
Q: I want to use an art medium that you haven’t listed on your website or emails. How do I know if I can use it?
A: As it is a creative arts competition, you can use any art medium of your choosing, as long as it complies with our Terms and Conditions. Please see number 9 for submissions that do not fit within the Conditions of Entry.
