Falmouth University has risen two places to 81 in The Guardian University Guide 2027, while the guide continues to rank our events, tourism and hospitality courses among the best in the country.

Published annually by The Guardian in response to several ranking factors, The Guardian University Guide examines student feedback on a wide range of areas; from teaching quality to the academic improvement of students on a course.

The 2027 rankings highlighted strong events, tourism and hospitality student satisfaction, and how they outperformed expectations based on exam results students attained before coming to Falmouth. Across all subjects, Falmouth scored well on this measure, called ‘added value’, and is generally seen as a measure that is indicative of teaching quality, moving up 17 places nationally.

It is fantastic to be recognised again for the quality of the events, tourism and hospitality courses. This is the second year on the row we have been one of the leading universities in these subject areas. - Course Leader, Paul Russell

This is the second year on the row we have been one of the leading universities in these subject areas.

Falmouth's events, tourism and hospitality courses encourage students to pursue innovation across a wide spectrum of sectors. The courses were ranked first last year and third in the table this year. They feature unique industry connections; including inclusivity champions A Greener Future and Attitude is Everything, helping students hone their entrepreneurial skills by tackling live challenges, supported by practicing academic staff.

Paul Russell, Course Leader for BA(Hons) Tourism & Hospitality Management and BA(Hons) Festival Management, commented:

“It is fantastic to be recognised again by the Guardian for the quality of the events, tourism and hospitality courses. This is the second year on the row we have been one of the leading universities in these subject areas. It is especially pleasing to see the ‘added value’ that students experience during their time with us recognised.

“Our courses are especially pertinent to the environment students study in. Cornwall has vibrant and diverse tourism and event sectors, which is reflected in the industry connections the course has. This feeds into the opportunities students have to develop themselves through the use of live projects, industry briefs, and real-world application of learning.”
