Tracy Pritchard, Director of Falmouth University’s Fashion and Textiles Institute, has been named Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA); a first for the university.

Tracy joins an elite group of 1,000 HEA Principal Fellows worldwide, recognised for their long-term commitment to professional development and best practice in teaching, learning and the student experience.

Tracy comments: “I am personally delighted to receive the recognition for my achievements of over 20 years in Higher Education and my contribution to learning and teaching along with the acknowledgement of my management and leadership.”

Tracy continues:

One of the reasons I achieved Principal Fellow was due to the vast international work I have achieved in my subject field and the work I have done internationally in learning and teaching.

Fellowship of the HEA demonstrates a personal and institutional commitment to professionalism in learning and teaching in higher education.

Principal Fellowship, as attained by Tracy, reflects highly experienced, senior staff with wide-ranging academic strategic leadership responsibilities in teaching and learning, and influence in this area that extends beyond their own institution.

Tracy’s many achievements in higher education, in the UK and internationally, include leading fashion design programmes, published research in international peer-reviewed journals and external consultation to other fashion courses within the UK and in Milan. Tracy is also a regular speaker at the HAMK Institute of Applied Arts In Finland.

Prior to becoming Director of the Fashion and Textiles Institute at Falmouth University, Tracy was an award-winning designer for high street outlets including Marks and Spencer, Next and House of Fraser. She also worked as a fashion consultant and writer for newspapers, magazines and TV.
