Falmouth graduates recognised by Arts Thread Global Design Graduate Show 2022
25 October 2022

Orda, Saidis Orda
Five Fashion & Textiles Institute graduates made it to the shortlist for the Arts Thread Global Design Graduate Show 2022 in collaboration with Gucci.
Huge congratulations to Madeleine Draper, Saidis Orda, Ella Shaw, Finlay Vincent and Will Savage for being recognised at this year’s Global Design Graduate Show.
We’re also proud to say that Fashion Photography BA(Hons) was the only course in the world to receive three nominations in the Fashion Communications specialist category. This is huge credit to the Fashion & Textiles Institute at Falmouth.
The Global Design Graduate Show 2022 was open to all art and design students graduating in the year 2021-22 in any related creative discipline, located anywhere in the world.
This year, 5489 students uploaded their end of year projects and took part, making it the biggest ever online showcase of graduating creatives worldwide.
We’re particularly proud as this award is open to all Art and Design undergraduate and postgraduate students from around the globe.
All our graduates’ entries explored a unique theme within fashion, accessories and textiles.
Madeleine’s entry The Masked Ideal explored the “societal ideals of womanhood”. She wrote: “The project explores how women feel more safe and secure wearing a painted disguise that men adore, rather than accepting and embracing their natural beauty.”
Will Savage's collection, which was inspired by 2016 film The Revenant, aimed to provide all weather hiking/camping functionality on Dartmoor. While Saidis Orda said their project was a "response to identity disorder, homogenization, and the post-global world that current humanity exists in".
A spokesperson for Falmouth’s Fashion & Textiles Institute said: “We’re particularly proud as this award is open to all Art and Design undergraduate and postgraduate students from around the globe.”
