BSc(Hons) Computing for Games graduate Sam Lloyd was one of the main programmers on Atelier's Key, handling the back-end systems, menu UIs, gunplay and enemy work for the game. The game went on to win Most Striking Visuals at Falmouth Games Academy's Expo awards.

Sam has since secured a three-month paid internship as an engine programmer at Epic Games, in the profiling tools department, with the chance of further employment afterwards.

"Hi, I'm Sam. I'm on the Computing for Games course in my third year.

"I was one of the main programmers on Atelier's Key, so I was responsible for doing all of the back-end systems, menu UIs, messing about with the gunplay, some work on the enemies.

"Game development is great for science and an art. I'd say coming to Falmouth to study game development was the correct choice. Learning to work properly in organised teams has probably been the best skill I've learned this year.

"One of the main things that attracted me to the university in the first place was how they advertised that it was for beginners, and I would say towards the end of my third year, I've become quite confident with my programming skills. Confident enough, at least, to go into industry.

"I've got a job opportunity as an engine programmer at Epic Games, specifically in the profiling tools department. It's around a three-month internship, fully paid, which is quite nice, and afterwards, there is a further chance of employment as well."
