Falmouth University courses have received a groundbreaking event accessibility accreditation.

Falmouth’s Cornwall Business School has received course accreditation from Attitude is Everything (AiE).

AiE is an internationally recognised organisation working to remove barriers for deaf and disabled people experiencing discrimination at live events.

Falmouth University now boasts three accredited undergraduate degrees and one accredited master’s degree, making it the first university in the world to achieve such recognition.

The accreditation by AiE means Falmouth’s students will study the theory and best practice guidance to help make the UK and international live events industries accessible to all.

The courses are: BA(Hons) Creative Events Management, BA(Hons) Sustainable Festival Management, BA(Hons) Sustainable Tourism Management and MA Creative Events Management.

Gideon Feldman, Head of Programmes at Attitude is Everything said: “AiE is proud to have fed into these courses, helping to ensure the next generation of event industry professionals are equipped with the knowledge they need to ensure deaf and disabled audiences, artists, professionals and volunteers can play a full and equal part.”

Head of Subject at Falmouth Adrian Bossey said: “We have carefully created our Experience Design courses to be at the cutting edge of inclusive practice. We are delighted to have received accreditation from such an inspiring organisation.

“AiE play a leading role in advocating for accessibility to live music and other events. There is significant awareness and interest around inclusivity and access in the events industry, so we’re really looking forward to playing a major part in these important developments.”
