Our Spaces

The Newsroom

The Newsroom on Falmouth Campus is a professional journalism space equipped with thirty PCs running industry-standard hardware and software. Students have access to video cameras, audio recording equipment and high-end audio and video editing software, supported by fast and reliable server and media-sharing systems.

The space includes international, national and local news ingestion subscriptions, teleprompt and green screen video facilities, and a wide range of field and handheld recording equipment. There are dedicated facilities for radio production, including a vocal booth, photo studio, audio suites and a professional radio studio, alongside live news broadcast facilities.

The Newsroom also features four display projectors for presentations and media sharing, large-screen TVs for viewing and analysing journalistic content, and an external broadcast platform used during news bulletin production.

The Soundhouse

The Soundhouse on Falmouth Campus is a purpose-built, standalone professional radio control room for broadcast radio production, multi-mic interviews and podcast recording. It is equipped with an Axia digital desk, Zetta playout and scheduling systems, and Burli newsfeed systems, all running on PC platforms.

The studio also includes multimedia and Bluetooth playout facilities, phone-in services and opportunities for full self-op radio production. The studio space features two interview microphones, headphones and an adjoining control room.
