About the accommodation
The Sidings offers student accommodation in shared flats, and a small number of self-contained single occupancy studio flats.
Shared flats are shared between four and seven students, and have en-suite bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen and communal area.
Single occupancy studio flats offer a kitchenette, bathroom and combined bedroom/living area.
Our accommodation application ballot is now open. Make sure to submit your application before 17:00 on 5 June 2026. Applications received after the June deadline are not guaranteed a place in University owned or managed accommodation.
Where is it?
The Sidings
As the name suggests, The Sidings are located right beside Penryn Train Station equidistant between Penryn Campus and Penryn Town Centre. Easy access to the train line will provide you with quick routes to both Falmouth and Truro. There is also a bus stop right outside the halls.
What's in the local area?
Penryn Campus: 15-minute walk or a very short bus journey. On Penryn Campus you'll find The Stannary, our on-campus bar, kitchen and events venue, among other cafes and bars. You'll also find our Penryn Campus Sports Centre, library and Glasney Student Village.
Penryn: Easily reached on foot or via bus, Penryn is a small town on the Penryn River. In the town centre you'll find an array of local pubs and eateries, while Penryn train station offers access to Falmouth and Truro.

The rooms at The Sidings are single occupancy en-suite bedrooms in shared flats. There are also a small number of self-contained studios flats.
The shared flats include en-suite bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen and a communal living area with a TV. These flats are shared between four and seven students.
Each self-contained studio flat includes a kitchenette, bathroom and combined bedroom/living area.
Accessible & adaptable rooms
We have a number of rooms that can be adapted for students with additional requirements. They include the same shared facilities, but may have things such as grab rails or en-suite wet rooms.
If you have specific medical needs you'll be able to put this in your application, and we encourage you to do this as soon as possible to make sure we can provide you with accommodation that meets your needs.

When applying for The Sidings you will see a price range and a list of room types. You will only be able to apply for a standard room however those students that are allocated to this residence will be allocated any one of those room types. Studio flats will be prioritised for students with a disability or medical condition.

- 24 hour telephone help desk
For a small fee, you can also use on-site card-operated laundry facilities and a payphone.
Utilities
Utilities are included within a certain quota. If your accommodation exceeds that you may have to pay additional charges.
Internet
Free 5Mbps Wi-Fi throughout is included in the utilities. Upgraded internet speeds are available at an additional cost for all 40 week tenancies.
Insurance
The insurance cover is a basic policy and you may wish to extend this cover to ensure all your belongings are covered. For further information regarding insurance cover please click here.
