Photography Facilities
At Falmouth, our photography facilities are purpose built, and designed around real-world skills you'll need as a photographer.
With a focus on developing your own individual photographic style, our facilities are built for flexibility: mirroring industry practice in purpose-built studios, labs and extensive Stores.
Facilities include:
- Nine spacious professional-standard studios
- Well-equipped Photography Stores for camera and kit hire
- Black and white and colour darkrooms, as well as film process areas
- Spaces for alternative and experimental processes
- Film and paper processing machines
- Fully colour-managed digital suites
- Photo-microscopy laboratory
- Fully equipped hide for nature study, photography and filming
- Digital training area with Adobe Creative Suite
- Professional quality film scanners with the latest software
- Large photo finishing room, equipped to support print mounting, book binding, analogue and digital print finishing and zine production
The Photography Stores
Students studying on campus can access industry-standard cameras, lenses, lighting and kit from our Stores during their studies.
We believe being industry-ready means having access to industry-standard equipment and facilities. That's why we've invested in state-of-the-art facilities, and stock our Stores with the latest industry products that photographers and image makers are using today.
Our Stores stock hundreds of items, including:
- Digital and analogue/film cameras; from 35mm to large format DSLR cameras
- Specialist cameras, such as Nikon Z8 underwater cameras and Fuji G617 panoramic film cameras
- Nikon, Canon and Fuji cameras and compatible accessories
- Lenses from 8mm to 800mm
- Specialist equipment and accessories, Aquatech surf housings, drones, star trackers, such as underwater housings (please note students need special training to use underwater kit)
- Portable and studio lighting

Photo Lab (print services)
As a photo finishing facility, providing prints to students, university staff, professionals and the general public, we pride ourselves in our ability to produce professional results that compete with the top labs in the UK.
We use industry standard printers, Fuji Frontier photo printer and Canon wide format inkjets with full colour management and quality control. We can offer print sizes from 6” x 4” to A0 as standard on a wide range of surfaces and are happy to discuss panoramic or other formats with our customers. We offer standard glossy and lustre finish photo prints and have over 12 different inkjet (giclee) papers in stock, all through a colour calibrated system and Mirage Print RIP.
