Illustration BA(Hons) student Abby Mundell has been longlisted by the Association of Illustrators at the 2022 World Illustration Awards.

The World Illustration Awards showcase the great work being made by illustrators all over the world and have included Abby in their longlist for 2022.

It should come as no surprise to see Abby’s illustration keeping such esteemed company, as the longlisted work has previously won Veganuary’s art competition, which challenged students to illustrate the climate benefits of vegan eating.

Speaking to the AOI, Abby said: “This project was a competition run by Falmouth University in conjunction with Veganuary. The brief was to create a positive and inspirational illustration in response to ‘Vegan for The Climate’ that would be used on their social media if you had the winning illustration (which I did!).

“The intention of my design was to provide people with an inspirational vision of veganism.”

This year the Association of Illustrators (AOI) are putting renewed focus on supporting creativity and connecting illustrators to their peers and the industry.

As a result, all longlisted entries will be invited to an exclusive AOI self-promotion masterclass focussing on getting the most out of being longlisted for WIA 2022.

And things could get even better for Abby. Should she feature on the AOI’s shortlist, the illustrator will receive a host of resources to help her kickstart her career.

The perks include exposure through the AOI’s social media channels and having her work featured in a printed full-colour catalogue, which will be distributed to commissioners worldwide.
