Current Photography BA(Hons) (Online) student Cody Murray is already securing jobs in the commercial world with standout commissions from the professional haircare brand WAHL and an editorial feature in Tribu-te Magazine.
Blending strong technical skills with visual storytelling, Cody’s recent commissions highlight the level of professional achievement that’s possible while studying an online degree at Falmouth.
For WAHL’s styling range and educational course, Cody was tasked with producing photographs that showcased the brand's high-quality products in use. From documenting before-and-after transformations to capturing key moments mid-styling, her images were designed to resonate with both industry professionals and consumers of the brand.
Reflecting on the commission, Cody said: “The best part for me was the environment. It was high energy but focused, which made the shoot run smoothly.”

The course has helped me explore the art of storytelling. It’s given my photographs more depth and meaning.
Alongside this commercial work, Cody has recently collaborated with hairdresser Stacey Write to produce Unconventional Art, a series of photographs featured in Tribu-te Magazine, a specialist hair and beauty publication. The series celebrates creativity and styling in hair design, offering Cody the chance to push her editorial direction and creative voice even further.

Cody credits the Photography BA(Hons) (Online) degree with helping her develop skills in visual storytelling. She says: “The course has helped me explore the art of storytelling. It’s given my photographs more depth and meaning, and the chance to explore new perspectives and approaches within my practice.”
The course’s supportive academic team has also contributed to her success. Cody adds: “I appreciate having Catarina Fontoura as the course leader, she’s been incredibly supportive. Associate lecturer, Gem Toes-Crichton is always quick to recommend photographers to connect with, and all the tutors have different backgrounds, so there’s always something new to learn.”
Whether working on professional campaigns or building connections with high-profile photographers, Cody is proving that you can still secure industry opportunities while studying online.
