The Neptune Prize 2023 Shortlist

The Golden Dregs’ frontman, and Falmouth University graduate, Benjamin Woods wrote On Grace and Dignity at home in Truro during lockdown. The songs reflect on his experiences at the time, such as having to move back home and work as a labourer. The album was released on the 4AD label, which has also released albums by bands such as The Pixies and Future Islands.

Showcasing Benjamin’s “gruff tones and wry, observational lyrics” (The Independent, 02-23), songs by The Golden Dregs are regularly played on BBC 6 Music, and the band is currently on tour, playing in Norway in mid-September and at Mutations Festival in Brighton on 2 November. Their music is available to buy/steam here.
