Creative Writing course leader organises conference on creativity and neurodivergence
20 May 2025

Dr Marshall Moore, course leader of Falmouth’s online Creative Writing degree, is part of a panel of academics behind an upcoming conference on creativity and neurodiversity.
The conference, entitled ‘Creativity, Creative Arts, and Neurodivergence’, will take place at London’s Foundling Museum this June and will bring together researchers and practitioners to discuss the connections between neurodivergence and the creative arts.
The conference takes as its point of departure recent research on neurodivergence and creativity, which suggests that those with neurodiverse traits may have heightened access to creative thinking. The programme features talks by authors and academics, workshops by visual artists and more, and will include a panel discussion chaired by Marshall exploring the discovery of neurodivergent identities through creative and community practices.
About Dr Marshall Moore
Marshall is a widely successful author with a decade of experience in the publishing industry, and has written, taught, and researched creative writing all over the world. Hailing from North Carolina, he settled in the UK in 2020 after living and working in Seoul, Hong Kong, and Thailand, joining Falmouth’s creative writing community later that year.
On his involvement in the conference, he told us: “My recent dual diagnosis with both ADHD and autism have really focused my mind on what it means to be a neurodivergent creative practitioner in the academic realm. Once you get your head around the idea of neurotypes being natural variations in human cognition, so many other questions emerge.”
He added: “A major shift in the way we look at neurodiversity is happening right now, and a lot of interesting research is being done. I’m pleased to help put Falmouth at the forefront of this important progress.”
