"The Mystery Of Edwin Drood" is a hilarious musical whodunit loosely based on Charles Dickens’ famously unfinished novel of the same name.
Winner of 5 Tony and 8 Drama Desk Awards (including Best Musical), this wildly warm-hearted theatrical experience kicks off when the ‘Music Hall Royale’ (a hilariously loony Victorian musical troupe) “puts on” its flamboyant rendition of an unfinished Dickens mystery. The giddy playfulness of this play-within-a-play draws the audience toward one of the play’s most talked-about features – allowing the audience to vote on the solution as prelude to the most unusual and hilarious finale!
Written by Rupert Holmes, the madcap caper first previewed on Broadway in 1985 starring Cleo Laine and Betty Buckley before moving to the West End in 1987. A reworked 2012 revival at Studio 54 starred Chita Rivera and a young Stephanie J. Block in the title role.
So come and join the ‘Music Hall Royale’ for this interactive, immersive romp through the English countryside, which culminates with an unexpected ending – particularly for the performers!
