Angela Chick
Online Tutor, Illustration BA(Hons) (Online)
With nearly 20 years working as a freelance illustrator and creative entrepreneur, Angela has worked with a variety of clients including local small businesses, city councils, and household names such as Selfridges and Paperchase. Packed full of colour, Angela's playful, bright and bold style is recognised for adding cheer to the everyday. With strong levels of empathy, themes of mental health, nature, fun and friendship - her work aims to help people and make them feel good.
Angela is a UK based creative practitioner, with an MA in Illustration and PGCHE & FHEA qualification. She has experience delivering workshops and lectures at HE level to both BA and MA students in creative subjects on visual problem solving, professional practice, zines, self-publishing, ideation, creative entrepreneurship, hand lettering, visual narratives and more. She currently works at both Falmouth University and University of Portsmouth. Her current research is focused around developing creative methodologies for pedagogy, learning how we can unlock creativity in adults by subverting our fear of failure.

Recent projects of note (2024 - now)
- Design and community co-creation of a large pavement artwork in the town centre as part of Portsmouth’s Future High Streets Project
- Collaborating with University of Portsmouth, Portsmouth Creates and Limbic Cinema to create a large-scale animation to be projection mapped onto a 25m water screen at the WeShine light festival in Portsmouth
- Designing a temporary wrap for a historic landing craft, F8, to celebrate the 25 year anniversary of the lifting of the ban of LGBTQ+ people being able to serve in the forces. This was a collaboration with Portsmouth Historic Quarter, Fighting With Pride and Portsmouth Pride - the host of UK Pride in 2025
- Working with various local organisations, museums and galleries to deliver workshops on space, place and wellbeing, including creating a living archive using zine making.
