Sponsorship for Textile Student

Third year Textile Design student Georgia Johnson has been awarded Madeira Thread Student Sponsorship.

Senior Lecturer Hannah Maughan explained:

This award is highly competitive so a great achievement for Georgia.

"I put Georgia forward for the sponsorship due to her creative and technical use of machine embroidery. She is constantly pushing her approach from domestic and industrial machines to digital, and is currently developing collections of high end fashion fabrics."

Madeira is a specialist in the world of industrial embroidery and decorative thread. The sponsorship covers threads from Madeira UK, which Georgia can use in her final year work, as well as promotion through the company.

Georgia said: "I am very grateful for Madeira's sponsorship; it means a lot that my work is recognised and gives me hope for the future, making me more confident on my work. I will be spending my sponsorship on threads to use on the digital embroidery machine for my next project. Thanks to Madeira for my sponsorship."
