Textile Design student Lauren Henry has been named as one of the winners at this year's New Designers.

Lauren scooped the Business Design Centre New Designer of the Year Award for her work, See No Evil.

The Judges said: "Lauren's work combined a powerful narrative with a beautiful aesthetic, taking the current social climate and translating it onto a classic material. She has combined great beauty with poignant story-telling to produce her beautiful collection of scarves."

Lauren said: "It feels amazing to have been chosen for such a prestigious award; to know that a panel of industry professionals have selected my work from this year's amazing group of students is so validating and it's beginning to open the doors to some exciting opportunities!

"I've got a few placements in the works; next week I'm off to CircleLine Design and I've had offers from River Island and Hallmark as well as interest in freelance work that I can hopefully take on in the near future."

Lauren will receive a £1,500 cash prize from the Business Design Centre and £1,000 worth of legal advice from specialist intellectual property lawyers Briffa including a year's free membership to their DesignProtect insurance service.

New Designers presents the work of 3,000 hand-picked graduate design talents from around the country. Hosted at London's Business Design Centre 26 June to 29 June and 3 to 6 July, the show explores every discipline of modern making.
