Meet the Creative Advertising graduate who won a D&AD Portfolio Award
22 July 2025

July has been a big month for Rosie Whyte; she’s graduated with a Creative Advertising BA(Hons) from Falmouth, started an internship as a Junior Creative Intern and beat 800 other creatives to win a prestigious Portfolio Award at this year’s D&AD Awards.
Now working at Havas Lynx, a leading healthcare communications agency based in Manchester, Rosie is putting the creative thinking, teamworking and problem-solving skills she developed during her time at Falmouth into practise.
We caught up with Rosie to learn more about her award win, the creative internship and why studying at Falmouth was the right path for her.
How have you found your time studying a Creative Advertising BA at Falmouth?
I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Falmouth, from the passion shown by all the lecturers to the opportunities provided, it truly is a great introduction to the industry of advertising. Many of the skills I’ve learnt I’ve carried through to my internship at Havas Lynx so I'm grateful to have studied it.
Living and studying in Falmouth itself has been an absolute dream! I'm from Manchester so moving to Cornwall was a culture shock but it was worth it – I found myself becoming accustomed to life by the sea and it's a great place for creativity to thrive.

Earlier this month you won the Portfolio Award at this year’s D&AD Awards. What was it like to win such an award?
I couldn't believe it when I found out I was selected from over 800 entries globally! I'm super grateful and excited to be one of the winners and it's been a great start to my career within the advertising industry.
I worked on a few of the projects with my creative partner at the time, Abi Hinton, and together we worked on briefs for agencies across London within the course. I included some of these in my portfolio as well as a few individual projects. I think in advertising it’s all about getting noticed; big ideas that can stop people in their tracks is what it’s all about.
What can you tell us about your internship with Havas Lynx?
My internship has so far been incredibly inspiring. I’ve been learning from award-winning creatives while growing my skillset and it’s been amazing. As a Junior Creative Intern, I'm rotated around the different teams to shadow and learn from them. I’m also given briefs to work on. Some are given directly from the client with tight deadlines and others are side projects to work on throughout the internship.
What does Creative Advertising mean to you?
My favourite thing about creative advertising is that you can make a living from brainstorming. As ridiculous as it sounds, good ideas are the backbone of every successful advertising campaign so if you want to spend your days finding new ways to communicate something to an audience then advertising is the career for you.
