French & Saunders: Titting About podcast scores nomination at this year’s Audio and Radio Industry Awards

A comedy podcast hosted by Falmouth University Chancellor Dawn French and produced by multi-award-winning comedy producer and MA Comedy Writing (Online) course leader Simon Nicholls has been nominated for ‘Best Comedy’ at this year’s Audio and Radio Industry Awards (ARIAS).
French & Saunders: Titting About reunites Dawn French with her comedy partner Jennifer Saunders, and across the Audible series the beloved comedians take subjects and literally ‘tit about’ them – from useful tips on airport shopping to naming their top three vegetables.
The ARIAS are presented annually to recognise, honour and reward outstanding shows and the teams behind them. Judged by over 200 senior audio and radio practitioners from all sectors of the industry, it’s a huge achievement to be nominated.
The ‘Best Comedy’ category is annually one of the most competitive, with The Alan Partridge Podcast and The Jon Richardson Show among this year’s ten nominees alongside French & Saunders: Titting About.
Simon is no stranger to producing successful audio comedy, with 20 years industry experience and a string of awards and accolades to his name. As a producer, Simon has championed and enabled new comedy writing talent throughout his career – and since 2020 he’s done the same as Falmouth’s MA Comedy Writing MA (Online) course creator and leader.
On his role as producer and being recognised by the ARIAS, Simon shared: “Working with Dawn and Jennifer is a big highlight of my year. We have great fun making the show and it’s a joy to produce a comedy that’s much-loved."
On his career more broadly, Simon told us: “I love running the online MA and producing comedies for the BBC and Audible. The two directly feed into one another: I'm pleased to say that the industry connections brought about by my producing work are reaping dividends, with many of our recent graduates now successfully forging careers in the comedy industry.”
This year’s ARIAS winners will be revealed at a ceremony at The Roundhouse in Camden on Thursday 21 May.
