Virtual event
With a renewed emphasis from the UK Government on skills, flexibility and lifelong learning, this CPD session will support educators and senior leaders in understanding how online study is evolving to meet this agenda, and how it can open pathways to higher education for students who may otherwise feel university isn’t an option.
As financial pressures, wellbeing concerns and personal circumstances increasingly influence post-16 choices, educators play a crucial role in helping students navigate alternatives to the traditional on-campus university route. This session will outline how modern, leading online undergraduate degrees are purposefully designed by specialist learning designers, using digital innovation to create engaging, interactive learning experiences, foster global communities, and develop real-world, industry-relevant skills and connections.
You will hear directly from current online students about why this route was right for them, explore common myths and misconceptions about online learning, and gain insight into what high-quality, premium online education really looks like in practice.
By the end of the session, you will:
- Understand how modern online undergraduate degrees are designed and delivered
- Be able to challenge common myths about online study
- Recognise which students may benefit most from online pathways
- Feel confident presenting online study as a legitimate university option
- Be equipped to support students who might otherwise opt out of higher education
- Understand how online study supports lifelong learning and skills development aligned with industry needs
This session is open to any teachers or senior leaders working in post-16 education.
