Falmouth University and the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) have signed a progression agreement for CIM members onto the MA Marketing & Digital Communications (Online) degree.
The agreement was signed by Dr Tom Baugh, Dean of the Faculty of Creative Arts and Communication at Falmouth University, and Maureen Wincott, Head of Learning Partnerships at CIM.
The CIM is the largest professional association of its kind, with a global network of approximately 25,000 members.
(L-R) MA Marketing & Digital Communications (Online) course leader Lionel Bunting, Maureen Wincott, Head of Advertising Dr Cui Su and Dr Tom Baugh.
This new agreement builds on an existing institutional relationship, including CIM accreditation of the MA Marketing & Digital Communications (Online) course as well as several other courses at the University.
It will introduce a structured entry pathway for CIM members holding CIM Level 6 or Level 7 qualifications. A tiered progression model has been developed which includes a guaranteed offer, a £1,000 tuition fee discount, and, for Level 7 award holders, optional credit exemption from the introductory module of the master’s. This approach recognises prior professional and academic achievements whilst maintaining alignment with the University’s admissions standards.
Dr Tom Baugh commented: “The agreement strengthens progression opportunities from a globally recognised professional body and demonstrates Falmouth’s strategic ambitions in flexible, industry-aligned postgraduate education.”
Maureen Wincott added: “We are thrilled to further develop our relationship with Falmouth University. Together we can offer a fantastic opportunity for Level 6 and 7 students to build on their professional qualifications and gain a prestigious master's degree. By recognising the rigour of CIM qualifications, this partnership ensures that dedicated marketing professionals have a seamless, supported, and affordable pathway to further their expertise in an ever-evolving digital landscape.”
