BA(Hons) Graphic Design 1986-1989
After graduation, I worked for London agencies and freelanced, experiencing diverse clients and disciplines, before returning to Cornwall to freelance for six months on a major publication on behalf of Timothy Guy Design. I set up Design Works in 1991, merged with London agency, Sightlines, a year later and bought myself out in 1996 to create my own company - Absolute Design.
Absolute handle graphic design, brand creation and management, print design, and commercial interior design. The interior design work only began in 2000, but our reputation is national; in 2006 we won and completed the project for Jamie Oliver's Fifteen Cornwall.
I didn't imagine my career would take the path it has, I thought I would end up in London working in magazines! Eighteen years on from starting my first company, though, I am at the helm of one of the South West's leading design agencies. In 2006 was a finalist for the Cornwall Woman of Achievement for my work at Absolute and my involvement as Chair of the Cornwall Design Forum and in 2007 I won silver at the Cornwall Business Awards for Entrepreneur of the Year.
