Management Accountant and Staff Governor

Phil is a member of the Institute of Chartered Management Accountants and leads the University's Management Accounts team within the Finance Department. The team aims to provide high quality financial management support services to all areas of the University.

Phil's career began, as many accountants' careers do, in accountancy and audit private practice. Prior to joining Falmouth in 2005, his post-qualification experience included providing financial and management accounting administration services to a portfolio of investment trust companies, and delivering management accounting services to a life insurance and pensions provider established over a century ago for the specific needs of doctors and dentists.

Phil is active in the higher education sector beyond Falmouth. He is Chair of the South West Regional Group of Higher Education TRAC Practitioners (Higher Education's costing methodology to promote the financial sustainability of the complex activity undertaken by universities) and he is involved on a national level in the further development of TRAC.

Phil is married to Sue and has two children - Niamh who is in her final year of GCSEs and aiming to study an arts-related subject at university (Falmouth!), and Eddie who has just begun secondary school in St Ives. Phil enjoys playing hockey, which for many years was at a more serious national level, but is now very much more of a social pursuit with Duchy Hockey Club. He is a trustee and treasurer of two small local charities.
