Francesca Rausa Montrasio

Associate Lecturer, Architecture BA(Hons)

Francesca is a designer, maker, builder and project manager weaving a material-focused approach into collaborative practices across design,

construction and education. She is Co-founding Director of both Social Designs CIC and ReCollective, and oversees female-led construction contractor; Social Constructs, whose most recent construction project was Highly Commended for the RIBAJ MacEwan Prize 2026. This project forms the basis of her ongoing research into construction sites as places of learning and empowerment for all bodies and abilities. She has designed, built and project managed construction work on multiple projects in Cornwall and London, celebrated for their use of second-hand timber, hemp-lime, and various applications of local clay. Francesca has taught at Falmouth University and Sydney University.
