Creative Music Technology student Jack O'Hea recently had the pleasure of work experience with music producer Dan Crook.

Jack tell us about the work experience he did as part of his third year module, Specialist Practice in Context: "I had a great few days assisting Dan at the studio he works at, which is in a modified barn at a secluded farm in deep rural Sussex. The studio belongs to Ben Hillier, the producer for Blur, Depeche Mode and Gang of Four, among others. I was lucky enough to meet Ben during the visit, and we got to chat about his and Dan's personal approaches to production, each unique to them."

As an undergraduate student, Dan Crook was taught by Jack's Creative Music Technology Course Leader Simon Waite. Since then, Dan continued his studies and has established himself as a successful producer, working with acts such as the Mercury-nominated Nadine Shah and recognised producers such as Ben Hillier. Simon suggested to Jack that he get in touch with Dan to build up his professional experience and network. It was a great success, he worked closely with and learned from Dan and got to meet Ben too.
