A group of Sustainable Product Design students has scooped accolades at New Designers 2018.

Showcasing the very best that student designers have to offer, New Designers gathers more than 3,000 of the brightest creative minds for a two-week exhibition that unveils the leading new projects in UK design. This year, Falmouth students took home three awards from the prestigious event, including:

• Best Stand Award – Elliot Lunn, Nathaniel Jones and Stefan Hewitt
• Pentland Brands Limited Award – Oliver Kidner
• Designability Award – Ashutosh Sharma

The judges praised all awards individually for their creative nature and sustainable outlook. They said of Falmouth's award-winning stand: "It perfectly reflects the nature of the course, with careful thought given to ensuring the build materials are fully recyclable, reducing waste while celebrating a good design."

The winners of the Best Stand Award had their project acknowledged on the awards display at the venue entrance throughout the duration of the event, as well as a special mention in the awards press release.

Oliver Kidner, for his Reshoevenate footwear product, was given the opportunity to take on a two-month, paid study programme with the Design Talent Team at Pentland Brands.

Under the tutelage of the Talent Team Manager, Oliver will provide creative and commercial solutions to briefs set by the Pentland Brands. These briefs will reflect a wide variety on industry aspects, from research-based projects to designing a new range of footwear.
