Students from the School of Film & Television have been nominated for six awards at the Royal Television Society (RTS) Devon and Cornwall Student Awards 2018, including Best Drama, Best Comedy, Best Factual and Best Animated Film.

Christopher Morris, Director of the School of Film & Television, commented: "What is so pleasing is the breadth and ambition made by our students. The nominated films include the true story of a scientist who spent months in a cave underground, a film that imagines that life on earth has ceased and a moving transgender journey is explored."

Nominees include:

  • Animation: Our Daughter is a Necromancer - Elitsa Nadyalkova
  • Comedy and Entertainment: Miss Malarkey's Lost Her Man - Mattias Tamar Gill, Megan Thompson, Alex Atkinson, Jude Lilley
  • Drama: God's Lonely Man - Samuel Johnson, Laura Marr, Ned Champain, Khloe Fry
  • Drama: Siffre - Henry Crisp, Corey Jacob Woodward, William Roberts, Line Vangen
  • Factual: Boi - Dionne Rayner, Laura Marr, Wesley Trevena, Bethan Fairbairn
  • Factual: Umi - Jake Wise, Kristy Harvey, Jack Wilson, Ben Clarkson

The Awards will be held on Thursday 19 April in Plymouth. The south west winners go forward to another jury to be judged with all the other UK regional winners, for a RTS grand final in London in the summer.
