Senior Lecturer Dr Sarah Riviere will lead an international workshop on sustainability in architecture this June, bringing Falmouth’s values to a wider European stage.

The one-day event will take place in Berlin on Friday 27 June 2025, hosted by the Nordic Embassies and supported by the Nordic Council. It will run as part of the Women in Architecture Festival 2025, a Europe-wide programme celebrating female leadership in the built environment.

The workshop, titled Dream – Play - Challenge: the Future of Sustainability in the Built Environment, will bring together architects, researchers and postgraduate students for a series of talks, roundtables and creative work sessions.

This is the second international event that Sarah has initiated since joining Falmouth’s Architecture department, and it has received internal funding through the university’s RKE Committee to support the event’s delivery.

“This workshop is a chance to bring together ideas from across Europe and reflect on how we can work differently in architecture,” said Sarah. “It’s exciting to contribute something new to the Women in Architecture programme – and to represent Falmouth in such a forward-looking space.”

As well as academic insight, the event will include practical and collaborative elements, with participants encouraged to explore different forms of creative exchange, enabling the idealism of dreams to come to life through the creativity of a more playful approach.
