Future Creatives Collective launches to give young people a flavour of creative higher education
21 November 2025
Falmouth University has launched the Future Creatives Collective, a new three-day online programme for students who want to explore creative study and build confidence before applying to university. Running during February half term 2026, it is open to UK students aged 16 and over who are studying a Level 3 qualification.
The programme gives young creatives a chance to try workshops, develop ideas and start building work for Dreaming and Doing, Falmouth’s 2026 Creative Competition. It has been designed to help students experience university level creativity in a supportive setting, while getting advice and mentoring from current Falmouth students familiar with the journey.
Across the three days, participants will take part in workshops that introduce different ways of thinking and making. They will learn how to strengthen a UCAS personal statement, improve a portfolio and turn early ideas into something they can enter for the Creative Competition. By the end of the week, each participant will have new work they can use in their portfolio and a clearer sense of what creative study involves.
The Future Creatives Collective also provides a structured route into Falmouth. Students who complete the programme and submit a piece of original creative work to Dreaming and Doing will be eligible for one of two progression options.
The first route is a guaranteed conditional offer for Falmouth’s Integrated Foundation Year (IFY). The second route is fast tracked review for selected BA courses that have an IFY pathway. For these courses, applications will move straight to academic review without an interview. In both cases, students will still need to meet standard tariff points and any published entry requirements. Full details are set out in the programme’s terms and conditions.
Participants will also receive a certificate of completion, which can support a future university application. Those entering the Creative Competition will have the chance to win up to £250 of creative materials and see their work exhibited.
Applications for the Future Creatives Collective close at midnight on Friday 23 January 2026. Students must take part in all three days of the programme, which runs from Monday 16 February to Wednesday 18 February, and submit their competition entry by 31 March 2026.
The launch of this programme supports Falmouth’s commitment to widening participation and helping young people explore creative futures. It gives students early access to the university’s teaching approach and reflects our focus on confidence building, real creative practice and clear routes into further study.
