Sustainability Week returns on 21 March with a packed line-up of eco-orientated events to help students and staff live a more environmentally conscious life.

Falmouth’s Sustainability Festival is being run as a collaboration between the Students’ Union, FX Plus, Exeter University and student groups across Penryn and Falmouth Campus. Between 21 – 25 March, students and staff will have access to a host of sustainability themed events and awareness raising activities.

Being closely connected to your local environment can yield a huge number of benefits, so during Sustainability Week students and staff will be armed with the knowledge to make the most of living in Cornwall.

They’ll be able to learn how to forage food with resident FX Plus Pagan Chaplain, passionate environmentalist and forager extraordinaire Zoe Young, who’ll be leading trips from both Falmouth and Penryn campus.

For those who want to learn more about the campus landscape, the grounds team will be leading biodiversity tours on both Penryn and Falmouth campus. Attendees will learn about the unique climate that is home to some of the UK’s most extraordinary wildlife.

The more adventurous can head to the Walled Gardens on Penryn Campus to cook up a bronze-age recipe – nettle soup!

It’s often thought that Cornwall’s best walks are closely guarded secrets, but Paul Simmons is on hand to give students and staff the inside scoop. The local Town Councillor and PhD student will share his knowledge of local footpaths and how they can help support our climate and ecological emergency.

Mukti Mitchell, a low-carbon lifestyle expert, carbon calculator developer, and founder of ‘Carbon Savvy’, will also be joining us. In his session Mukti will explain personal carbon footprints, help attendees find out theirs using the Carbon Savvy tool, and discuss the top ways to reduce our impact on the environment, all whilst improving our happiness! Mukti is running sessions for both students and staff.

These are just a few examples of the 26 events that’re in store during Sustainability Week 2022. If you’re a student or staff members, head to the campaign home page to browse through the full listing and book a session today.
