English Language Support

Studying and researching in a second language is an amazing achievement but can be challenging no matter how fluent you are. We offer a range of free language courses and tutorials to support our students for whom English is a second language.

Workshops

The English language skills workshops run during term-time and aim to help student students develop the advanced language skills need for academic study and life in the UK. They cover skills such as academic writing, speaking and pronunciation and functional language for everyday interactions.

Details can be found via the Falmouth App:

Support with your studies

If English is not your first language, these weekly online and in-person workshops help to develop advanced writing and language skills for academic study and research. These seminars are open to on-campus and online students.

Online students who have previously attended the academic English seminars can join these weekly sessions. You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions, share ideas and gain feedback on your writing or presenting from an English language tutor.

Final year international students can access support on writing their dissertation, including tips on how to structure and reference their work.

These workshops explore functional, everyday language for living in the UK. A great opportunity to discover new expressions, review grammar and ask any questions. They're also a chance to meet students from across the university.

One-to-one tutorials

Students and researchers can also book online or on-campus one-to-one tutorials with an English for Academic Purposes tutor. The tutors can advise on all aspects of language and academic skills, and provide formative feedback on assignments.
