Cordelia Cembrowicz

BA(Hons) Fine Art 2003 - 2006

After graduating in 2006 I went on to study a MA in Printmaking at the Royal College of Art. My recent shows include the Royal Academy Summer Show; Northern Print Biennale; East London Printmakers I Am Ten at the Bankside Gallery; a solo show in Gstaad, Switzerland; and Works of Tooth and Paper at Artonomy Truro. I'm making a silkscreen of a 40m long bicycle for my next show!

Fine Art at Falmouth provides a great sense of creative freedom. You have access to sculpture, printmaking, painting and time-based media, which enabled me to develop an interdisciplinary working practice that I still use today. It was great to have fluidity between different media and not to be constricted by specialising too early. I also developed a strong sense of self-discipline; I was encouraged to explore my ideas and enjoyed setting my own deadlines.

In the second year I did an Erasmus exchange to Poland and studied at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Art. This was a fantastic opportunity not only to learn some of the traditional modelling and printmaking techniques taught at the academy, but also to learn about my own cultural heritage. I'd highly recommend it to anyone.
