Course details

This short course introduces the basics of video editing in Premiere Pro, giving complete beginners a solid foundation. By the end, you’ll have the skills to start editing your own videos using core features and a working knowledge of digital video. 

Session One (3 hrs) 

  • Creating a basic Premiere pro project

  • Interface tour 
  • Video resolutions and aspect ratios 
  • Application setting and preferences 
  • Creating your first simple video sequence 

Session Two (3 hrs) 

  • Clip start and end points and duration 
  • Generative extend 
  • Video clip and sequence settings 
  • Audio track volumes 
  • Ripple and rolling edits 
  • Adding and editing markers 
  • Adding and editing transitions and effects 
  • Project organisation 
  • Encoding and exporting video

Matthew is a Digital Skills Trainer at Falmouth, specialising in Microsoft Office 365 and Adobe Premiere Pro. He delivers a range of Adobe and Microsoft courses, including Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) and Adobe Certified Professional (ACP) qualifications. He holds a degree in Sustainable Product Design and a PCET teaching certificate, and has served as a Senior Technician at Falmouth University for over 20 years.
