Instagram is a fantastic social media platform to visualise interiors and a great place to find interior design inspiration and motivation! I’ll be sharing nine of my favourite interior design Instagram accounts that I think you should follow to take your feed to new heights.

1. BA(Hons) Interior Design

First up is our very own Interior Design BA(Hons) Instagram page. This is run by Falmouth University students on the Interior Design degree, like me, who share student work and more about Falmouth - the beautiful place we call home. If you’re considering studying Interior Design here at Falmouth, the Interior Design Instagram account offers a fantastic perspective on what you can expect as a student on this course.

2. Mia Tsujimura

I discovered Mia Tsujimura’s Instagram account in my second year while creating my portfolio. Mia is currently a freelance interior designer and has worked as an intern for world renowned architectural firm Bjarke Ingels Group. She shares her experiences as an intern and her life now as an interior designer. Mia also shares portfolio and CV tips, as well as advice for interior design students and graduates applying for jobs.

3. Lucy Painter

The third account you should check out is run by Lucy Painter, author and founder of Studio, a recruitment agency for Interior Designers. Lucy has previously talked to Falmouth’s interior design students about employability tips and advice that she has gathered directly from employers that work with her agency.

4. Dezeen

Dezeen is one of the biggest architecture and design magazines. Dezeen showcases interior design and architectural projects from around the world and its Instagram account is a great place to view a selection of these designs for inspiration and case studies for your own projects!

9. Rosie Buttle

Rosie Buttle graduated from Falmouth University in 2021 and has gone on to work at a fantastic local studio, Absolute Interiors. On her design Instagram account, you’ll find images of the work she produced during her Interior Design degree and she updates on her work as an interior designer.

Finally, I’ll be cheeky and add a 10th Instagram account to follow, which is mine: @ashleyjamescreative - feel free to check it out and see how I’ve built my design account. You’ll also find some examples of work completed whilst I’ve been studying Interior Design here at Falmouth!

If you’re serious about pursuing a career in interior design, I’d highly recommend setting up a separate Instagram account - not only to get inspiration from the people you follow but as a platform to showcase your design work. An Instagram account can help to promote your interior design business as well as be an area to keep your design related inspiration all in one place.

I hope these interior design Instagram accounts will help you to find some great inspiration for a current or future interior design project.
