Course Leader - BA (Hons) Marine and Natural History Photography

Jo Bradford was born in Hertfordshire, United Kingdom, in 1977. She lives in the South West of England between her off-grid home studio on Dartmoor and Cornwall. She is the course leader for the BA (Hons) Marine and Natural History Photography degree at Falmouth University.

Bradford is represented by Galerie Miranda (Paris) Eyestorm Gallery (London). For 20 years, Bradford’s award winning work has been exhibited internationally and in 2011 was shown on the International Space Station.
Bradford received her Master’s Degree (Distinction) in Photography: Critical Practice, from Falmouth University in 2004. From 2010 to 2011, she was the Artist in Residence at Arts University Plymouth. Bradford has internationally published 4 books themed around photographic pedagogy. Her books have been translated into numerous foreign language co-editions. She will publish her 5th book with Octopus Books (Hachette) in Spring 2026.

A Director of the Sustainable Darkroom charitable trust, Bradford has long been developing sustainable ways of working with photography including managing darkroom chemicals via a specially planted willow wood in her small rural garden. She is passionate about photography as a tool for creativity and mental health, and has for many years, directed long term photo projects with disadvantaged young people across the UK in partnership with charitable trusts and organisations such as Action for Children and the Royal Photographic Society.
